Here are our quick notes from this masterclass on Culture.
- People Capital most important after Financial Capital. Culture helps unlock the returns on People Capital
- Culture is a shared set of values and beliefs. It's how people behave at their workplace. And it's about how things get done in the company
- Culture is the Operating System of the company - Loved this
- The Cultural aspirations need to translate into fundamental processes, systems etc
- Netflix puts people in front of processes, their belief in freedom and responsibility. Hence fewer policies, lesser controls, greater trust, and greater empowerment
- Google's culture centered around flexibility, fun, and fostering a lot of creativity. Moon shots are encouraged, failures are acceptable. And hence people feel safe to dream big.
- Culture has to make sense in the business context. One cannot just hope to copy the culture of another organization. It has to be your own creation.
